The reason for this is the ‘reality’of spirit, which is beyond proof.

Yoshimitsu Yoshihiko reiterated for the symposium the necessity to get beyond modern interpretative modes such as theories of “biological progress.”“In the spiritual world,” he asserted,“the philosophy of ‘progress’is clearly a lie”
(228). The reason for this is the ‘reality’of spirit, which is beyond proof. Owing to the reality of spirit's exsitence, its “self-affirmation as reality” intersects with history at the level of faith and belief. History is not meaningless. By reason of the traces spirit deposits and leaves behind on its itinerary, we will suffer the same pain it experienced when it made these conditions. For Yoshimitsu, this was simply another way of recommending to moderns that they should recognize the necessity of following in the tracks of the ancients and the impossibility of trying to separate contemporary life from the effort to locate the archaic(229). “Being touched honestly by the ancient path,” Nishitani explained,“begins with walking on the road of the self by oneself”(229).Similarly, if humans are able to exclude all of the diverse encumbrances of social life and truely seek and reach the honest forms of actuality(genjitsu), they will grasp the beautiful(230). It is important to note that in making this statement that equated the beautiful with “actuality.”Kobayashi was appealing to an already well established discursive convention of the times that had pitted the “actual,” conveying the association of the “concrete,”against the nominally real, the everyday life of the present(genzai), which was seen as abstract, formless, mutable. The evil that must be thrown out is the view that ties to reach the real through the “schematization and mapping of an expanding history or sence of reality that jams the head of modern man to the utmost”(230).Where there is sometimes a sence of wonder and at other times respect, there is neither temporality nor development.

The reason for this is the ‘reality’of spirit, which is beyond proof.
